What is CUET Exam ?

Common University Entrance Test is also called as CUET exam. In many universities of the country, UG courses are organized to take admission. All the questions in the Common University exam will be asked from the topic bus of class 12th only. Common University Entrance Test is based on NCERT Books of class 12th only. The exam day is available on the official website of NTA only.

In How Many languages CUET Exam is conduted ?

The Common University Entrance Test has been conducted in around 13 languages. Assamese, Punjabi, English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Oriya, Bengali and Urdu.

How to Apply for CUET?

  • The NTA authority will release CUET 2023 application form separately for UG & PG level courses.
  • The application form for both UG & PG level courses will be released via online mode. No other mode will be entertained to fill out the form.
  • The forms will be released from the first week of April till the last week of May 2023 for UG level courses.
  • Candidates will be able to submit the application form for PG courses from the second week of May till the third week of June 2023.

Steps to fill out the CUET application form online:

  • Open the NTA CUET website.
  • Click on “Registration”.
  • Read the instructions carefully and select the checkbox “I have downloaded the Information Bulletin, read and understood all the instructions”.
  • Proceed to apply online by clicking on “Click here to Proceed”.
  • Fill out the Registration Form, Enter your Security Pin and Submit the form.
  • Note down the system-generated Application Number.
  • Complete the Application Form.
  • Upload the scanned images of the Photograph and Signature incorrect specification.
  • Pay the Application fee and take a printout of the confirmation page after successful remittance of the fee.

Application Fee:

Candidates will have to submit their forms fee via online mode.

The mode of payment includes credit card, debit card or net banking or UPI payment mode.

The application fee will be non-refundable in any case.

Exam Syllabus :

To ensure effective preparation for CUET 2023, it is essential to familiarize yourself with the syllabus. Without a clear understanding of the syllabus, your preparation may deviate from the right track, leading to potential setbacks.

CUET 2023 is expected to be a highly competitive examination at the undergraduate level, offering over 3 lakh seats across 200+ universities, including 47 central universities, as well as state, private, and deemed universities. The exam will be conducted in online mode and will consist of multiplechoice questions (MCQs). While UG admissions will primarily rely on CUET scores, the University of Delhi has announced the consideration of Class 12th marks as a tiebreaker criterion for students with equal CUET scores who select the same college and course. It is anticipated that other universities will adopt similar policies. Therefore, it is crucial to adopt a structured approach to your preparation, ensuring that you perform well in both the Boards and the CUET.

Let us look at the overall CUET Exam Overview as well as CUET 2023 Exam Syllabus in brief.

Exam pattern:

  • The examination mode will be online as Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.
  • Question paper will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) type questions.
  • There will be 13 languages for the UG level course.
  • For Slot I, candidates will be given 3 hours 15 minutes & for Slot II 3 hours 45 minutes will be given.
  • CUET UG will include 4 sections as Section IA, Section IB, Section II and Section III.
  • There will be  100 questions asked in the question paper.
  • 5 marks will be credited for each correct answer while 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.

Colleges participating in CUET in2023

The National Testing Agency has released an updated list of participating universities for CUET exam. The revised list now includes Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Footwear Design And Development Institute, and several other universities. Approximately 250 universities participating in CUET exam will utilize CUET scores for admission into their undergraduate programs. Prior to applying for the entrance test, candidates are advised to review the eligibility criteria of the participating universities for CUET . CUET scores are accepted by esteemed institutions such as Banaras Hindu University, Aligarh Muslim University, Jamia Millia Islamia University, Delhi University and many others.

  • 88 Universities are supposed to take part in the NTA CUET,2023. These 88 universities will provide  an equal and will open common windows for the students, who are seeking admission to the following Universities across the Country
  • After the NTA will declare the result of CUET 2023. These universities will declare the counseling/ admission schedule and merit list independently based on the CUET 2023 score and other eligibility criteria of the respective CUET.
  • The admission counseling for the Universities participating in CUET 2023 will be done in online /offline mode. Syllabus 

Frequently Asked Questions :

In case of a tie between 2 or more students with the same CUET score choosing the same college and course, their class 12th boards marks (Best of 3, 4, and 5 subsequently) will be considered. Yet a tie, the age will be the final tiebreaker. The older student will get the seat.

CUET scores will be used for admissions to undergraduate courses of 47 Central Universities including Delhi University, BHU, Jamia Milia Islamia, JNU, AMU, University of Allahabad, University of Hyderabad among others. TISS and seven other institutions have also shown their eagerness to accept CUET Scores for admissions to their undergraduate courses.

CUET will be conducted in online mode as a Computer-Based Test by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The CUET 2023 will be conducted from 21st – 31st of May.

CUET is designed to evaluate one’s understanding of language, knowledge of subjects studied in class XII and general reasoning and quantitative skills. The paper will comprise of three sections: Language, Subject Domain Test and General Aptitude Test.

For every correct attempt, 5 marks will be awarded. For every incorrect attempt, 1 mark will be deducted. There will be no penalty for unattempted questions.

CUET will be conducted in three slots. The duration and the timings will be announced soon.

Any student desirous of taking admissions to undergraduate programs at the Universities participating in CUET must take the test. Admissions to all Central Universities including Delhi University, BHU, Jamia Millia Islamia, JNU, AMU, University of Allahabad, University of Hyderabad, and many other state and private universities (total 200+), will be based on CUET scores and no direct weightage will be given to class XII boards marks.

CUET will only release the students’ scorecards. The cut-off will be decided by each of the participating Central Universities separately, for each program on offer. Each University will announce the cut-off for a program based on the number of applications they receive for the program.

As of now, one can sit for the CUET multiple times. However, the Central Universities might have their own eligibility criteria for admission to their UG programs.

A candidate can apply for multiple courses and Universities, based on fulfilment of the eligibility criteria as determined by respective universities. There is no upper or lower limit to the number of universities a candidate can apply.

Yes. One can appear for CUET even when one is due to appear for the Class XII Boards exams. But one will need to produce the marksheet/certificates about fulfilling the eligibility criteria for the Course/University applied, at the time of admissions.

As of now, CUET is conducted only once a year.

Yes, Only CUET scores will now be accepted for admissions to undergraduate programs in all the Central and many other Universities (200+) participating in CUET.

Admissions are handled at the level of each of the participating universities for the respective program. The relevant universities will decide the cut-off for each program based on the CUET scores of applicants.
