Eligibility Criteria for SBI Clerk Exam:
There are certain requirements that candidates must have to appear for the SBI Clerk exam, otherwise, they are not allowed, we’ve mentioned the requirements in the following:
Educational Qualification: The candidates who are appearing in this examination should have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.
Age Limit: There is a minimum age limit determined by the SBI for candidates to be eligible for appearing in the SBI Clerk examination which is 20 years and the maximum age that should not exceed 28 years.
Number of Attempts: The aspirant should be able to take this exam many times within the age limit.
Citizenship: The person should be a citizen of India for appearing in this examination. Any person from Nepal, Bhutan or Tibetan should have come over to India on 1st January 1962 to permanently settle in India.
Language Proficiency: The candidates must be proficient in the local language of the state in which they are applying for the SBI Clerk post. The aspirants should have a local language as one of the subjects in their 10th standard or have studied the local language in the 10+2 or at graduation level.
Stages of the SBI Clerk Examination
The SBI Clerk exam is conducted in two stages: preliminary and main. We’ve discussed both of them in a detailed manner below:
Preliminary Exam: This examination is an objective type exam that contains 100 questions for a total of 100 marks. The duration of this examination is 1 hour which includes three sections: Numerical Ability, Reasoning Ability and English Language. The aspirants who clear this examination will become eligible to take part in the main exam.
Main Exam: It is also an online objective type questions test that includes 190 questions for 200 marks. This exam is conducted for 2 hours 40 Mins duration and has four sections: General English, General/ Financial Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude. Each wrong answer has a negative marking of 1/4th of the marks assigned to it.
Once the candidate qualifies the main exam will then be called for a language proficiency test (LPT). The LPT is conducted to make sure that candidates have a well-working knowledge of the local language of the state in which they are posted. The final selection call is made on the basis of the candidate’s performance in both the main exam and LPT.
Exam Pattern of the SBI Clerk Exam
Preliminary Exam:
- This exam has a one-hour duration and contains three sections: Numerical Ability, Reasoning Ability and English Language
- It is conducted online and contains 100 objective-type questions
- The negative marks for the exam are 100 with each question carrying one mark.
- The negative marking of 1/4th of the marks assigned to a question that has been wrongly answered
